Waste Removal at Mariposa Creek (Between 8th Street and Joe Howard)

Project # PWSW-404-GRANT-001

 

Mariposa County Public Works has obtained funding for the clean-up of various debris along the creek.

 

The project, which is funded through CalRecycle, is expected to be completed without delay.   All necessary County approvals and permits will be handled by Public Works. 

 

Public Works will act as the general contractor and will seek qualified contractors for the (3) Task Items listed below.

 

Anticipated Schedule:                 Begin Bidding:  October 14, 2021

                                                                Optional Bid Walk: October 21, 2021 ADDENDUM #1: BID WALK CANCELLED

                                                                End Bidding (Bid Open): October 26, 2021  ADDENDUM #1: BIDS DUE BY 2PM OCT 21

                                                                 

 

  Each contractor should submit pricing for either Part ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’, unless they have a General Class “A” License.  If multiple parts are submitted by a General Class “A”, they will need to provide individual pricing for each part.  The following are the expected deliverables:

 

PART ‘A’:         DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING SERVICES (Contractor Must have passed an approved hazardous substance certification examination – or equivalent) 

  1. There are various locations of trash and debris that may include hazardous wastes, including needles, drugs, and human/animal feces.
  2. Vehicular access and staging is available within the M.P.U.D. Easement/trail (Mariposa Public Utility Department).  Since most of the debris is across the creek (from the easement/trail) the contractor may find that manual labor is the most appropriate method to carry disposal to their vehicles.  Some smaller tools and vehicles may be allowed that do not violate any laws or code according to CalRecycle, Fish & Game, State Water Board, the Army Corp of Engineers, and the Mariposa County Planning Department.
  3. All fees at the Mariposa County Landfill will be paid by Public Works.

 

PART ‘B’:         FENCING AND SIGNAGE

1. Installation of (2) Gates and associated fencing across the M.P.U.D. easement/trail, at the access points at both ends.  The gate and fencing should be chain link and lockable.

 

PART ‘C’:         INSTALL EROSION CONTROL PER PLAN PROVIDED BY PUBLIC WORKS

1. Installation of various straw waddle bags along the bank of the creek, in areas of disturbance.  There will be no grading or disturbance of soil during this project.
