The Mariposa County Department of Public Works (MCDPW) is offering free tire disposal for Mariposa County residents from Thursday, May 6 to Monday, May 17 at the Mariposa County Landfill and Recycling Center and May 6 through May 16 at the Don Pedro Transfer Station. Reservations for drop-off are required. To make a reservation, call (800) 846-7910.
Up to nine tires per user may be brought for recycling. Only light truck and passenger vehicle tires without rims will be accepted—no tires from industrial, farming or heavy equipment. Disposal is not available for tire dealers or other businesses.
The Landfill is located at 5593 Hwy.49N in Mariposa. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Monday. The Don Pedro Transfer Station is located at 9729 Merced Falls Rd. and is open Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The tire amnesty event is sponsored by Mariposa County and the Rural Counties Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority. Partial funding is provided by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
