Early Intervention Services
Mariposa County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (MCBHRS) is seeking proposals for the provision of Early Intervention services funded by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).
Early Intervention means treatment and other services and interventions, including relapse prevention to address and promote recovery and related functional outcomes for a mental illness early in its emergence, including applicable negative outcomes listed in the Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) Section 5840, that may result from untreated mental illness.
Negative outcomes listed in WIC include; suicide, incarceration, school failure or dropout, unemployment, prolonged suffering, homelessness, and removal of children from their homes.
Early Intervention program services shall not exceed 18 months unless the individual receiving the services is identified as experiencing first onset of a serious mental illness or emotional disturbance with psychotic features, in which case Early Intervention Services shall not exceed four years.
Program services may include services to parents, caregivers, and other family members of the person with early onset of mental illness.
Early Intervention programs are intended to bring about mental health and related functional outcomes including the reduction of the negative outcomes listed in WIC.
Early Intervention programs are aimed at measuring the reduction of prolonged suffering.
Mariposa County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services has implemented a project proposal process to receive funding for Prevention and Early Intervention programs. While you may have received funding in the past for specific programs MCBHRS now requires entities to provide an overview and description of the services that will be provided and funded through the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).
