[ARCHIVED] Creek Week

Creek Week Newsflash Image

The County of Mariposa invites the public to participate in Creek Week, a multi-day community-driven event on April 12 and 13. As part of the County’s ongoing Mariposa Creek Parkway Master Plan project, Creek Week is an opportunity for Mariposa residents to think creatively and share their thoughts about how the Mariposa Creek Parkway can be a resource for economic development, environmental conservation and education, cultural programming and community health.

The Mariposa Creek Parkway’s ongoing development holds immense potential for Mariposa. To demonstrate this potential, and to think big about what is possible along Mariposa Creek, community groups like the Sierra Foothill Conservancy, Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce, Beat Harvest, Yosemite Songwriting Retreat, Made in Mariposa, Mariposa County Arts Council and Health and Wellness Coalition have come together to orchestrate a full roster of Creek Week events, prototyping ways of using the Mariposa Creek Parkway to support their organizations’ missions. There will be a pop-up music venue and beer garden, free yoga, tai chi and fitness classes at the Mariposa County Arts Park, and handmade goods for sale by the communities most thoughtful and skilled crafts-people. Most importantly these events and activities will be designed to collect the community’s input on the future of the Parkway. Think of it as part block party, part public workshop.

April 12 from 3-7pm, Mariposa Creek Parkway at Stroming Road - Pop-up Beer Garden, Live Music, Local Food Vendors, and Made in Mariposa Bazaar.

April 13 from 10am-2pm, Mariposa Creek Parkway at Stroming Road - Path to Wellness Health Fair (Presentations from Local Health and Wellness Practitioners, including Free Yoga and Tai Chi Classes, Live Music, and Raffles); and stick around for the Beat Harvest Student Show, which begins at 2PM.
