Adult Protective Services Responsibilities
Mariposa County Adult Protective Services (APS) is dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and dignity of adults aged 60 and older, and disabled adults aged 18 and older. The goal of the APS Program is to prevent and remedy the abuse and/or neglect of those unable to protect their own interests.
APS provides a 24-hour, 7-day a week emergency response to allegations of elder/dependent adult abuse and neglect. APS evaluates all allegations of abuse and neglect to determine an appropriate and timely response. This includes situations of self neglect in which the elderly person is unable to provide their own basic needs.
APS staff also provides information and referral to other agencies, provides education to partners, and works to stabilize the lives of older and dependent adults in our community.
