Who can become a foster parent?: Foster parents can be couples or single adults over age 18, who have the ability to support themselves. You may live in either a house or an apartment. Working parents are welcome as long as appropriate child care can be arranged. If you have a strong desire to make a positive difference in a child's life and are willing to open your home and provide a nurturing, loving, and supportive environment, YOU can be a foster parent.

If you have a strong desire to make a positive difference in a child's life and are willing to open your home and provide a nurturing, loving, and supportive environment, YOU can be a foster parent.

2. How do I become a foster parent?: The first step is to schedule an orientation with your county Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) who will explain the qualifications and requirements.

3. Are foster homes needed in Mariposa County?: YES! There is a desperate need for foster homes within our county. A lack of homes requires our county to place children in other counties away from familiar surroundings including friends and school.
