Todays world poses many challenges to our personal safety. From natural disasters, terrorist threats, and those less obvious such as identity theft. Use these resources and keep yourself and family safer from outside threats:

Tempting offers arrive in mailboxes and inboxes everyday. Many of these offers are scams. Be skepticle - if an offer is seems to good to be true, it probably is. The Internet Crime Complaint Center, operated in partnership by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), has Internet Crime Prevention Tips, and a guide to common Internet Crime Schemes, including counterfeit cashiers checks, employment opportunities, and lottery scams.

Children on the Internet

The internet has also become a resource for today's children both for information and for social networking. The FBI's Parent's Guide to Internet Safety is a guide to some of the risks that children face when online and how to minimize those risks. ConnectSafely also has a number of articles and safety tips for parents, including articles on sexting, cyberbullying, cellphone safety, and chat room safety.
